Five Things To Remember On Jan. 2

1. January is Poverty Awareness Month and the Catholic Campaign for Human Development has resources to help you get involved in fight to end poverty. Take a tour of what it's like to live in poverty in the U.S.

2. A busy food pantry keeps volunteers strong in their faith, writes one D.C. area parishioner. Auxiliary of Seattle and chairman of the U.S. Bishops’ Committee on Migration, Bishop Eusebio Elizondo, MSpS, writes that Immigration reform would lift immigrant families out of poverty and benefit the nation.

3. National Migration Week 2014 will take place January 5-11 with the theme, "Out of the Darkness." Migrants and particularly the most vulnerable migrants: children, the undocumented, refugees, and victims of human trafficking, often find themselves existing in a kind of figurative darkness where their options remain limited and their ability to live out their lives in its fullness severely restricted.

4. More than 6.6 million attended events led by Pope Francis in 2013. The numbers don''t even include the estimated more than three million people at World Youth Day in Rio.

5. God loves you.
