Five Things To Remember on June 2

1. Next Sunday, June 8, the Feast of Pentecost, Pope Francis will host a prayer service for peace in the Middle East, with Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. People from around the world will be united in prayer for this vital cause during this unprecedented service.

2. Happy Birthday, Dear Church. Find out why Pentecost is considered the birthday of the Church. http://www.foryourmarriage.org/pentecost-the-churchs-birthday/

3. U.S. bishops will vote on renewal of the National Directory for the Formation, Ministry and Life of Permanent Deacons in the United States at their Spring General Assembly of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in New Orleans, June 11-13. The action is being proposed by the Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations, which seeks the renewal of the recognitio (Vatican approval) granted to the directory for an additional five-year period without any changes at this time.
There are more than 15,000 active permanent deacons in the United States.

4. The U.S. Bishops have called for a Fortnight for Freedom from June 21 to July 4, 2014. Please visit www.fortnight4freedom.org for more information on this important time of prayer, education, and action in support of religious freedom.

5. God loves you.
