Five Things To Remember On Jan. 14
1. Bishop Eusebio Elizondo, M.Sp.S., auxiliary bishop of Seattle and chairman of the Committee on Migration of the USCCB, in testimony January 7, called on the Senate to seek an end to the violence in Syria and increase humanitarian aid and resettlement of Syrian refugees.
2. Vatican Radio reports, "A meeting took place today in the Vatican between the Secretary of State, Cardinal designate Pietro Parolin and the Secretary of State of the United States, John Kerry. The US Secretary of State is currently engaged in an international diplomatic tour to promote a peace accord between Israeli's and Palestinians as well as the successful outcome of the “Geneva 2” The Conference for peace in Syria, scheduled for the 22nd of January.
3. Archbishop Joseph Kurtz, president of the USCCB, writes why he will participate in the March for Life Jan. 22 in Washington. "I plan to join the gathering in Washington for several reasons. We march in memory of those lost to abortion. We march for the voiceless children to defend their right to life – especially for those like my brother Georgie, born with Down syndrome, whose lives all too often are deemed unworthy to see the light of day."
4. Thousands of Catholics across the country will come together in prayer for a "culture of life" from January 18-26.
5. God loves you.
