Five Things To Remember On Jan. 13

1. Catholic News Service reports: "Pope Francis said world peace requires the defense of human dignity from violations such as world hunger, human trafficking and abortion." Read more about his comments critical of today's "throwaway culture." You can watch a short video of the speech below:

2.  Even though USA Today supports contraception coverage broadly, it recognizes that the Little Sisters of the Poor shouldn’t be forced to help provide that coverage.  That’s what religious freedom is all about.

3. Pope Francis named 19 cardinals worldwide on Saturday.

4. Catholics Confront Global Poverty is an initiative of the USCCB and Catholic Relief Services that calls on Catholics to defend the life and dignity of people living in poverty throughout the world, and urges our nation to act in response to the many faces of poverty through advocacy and action.
